Margot Quinn The Matchmaker of Harbor City

Margot Quinn believes the finest things in life are a well-earned grovel, a witty comeback delivered thirty seconds too late, and a book so good you finish it at 2am and immediately start the next one. She has spent her whole life collecting the kind of friends who feel like family and the kind of tropes that make a romance reader clutch their phone, and eventually she started writing them down.

Her Harbor City Hearts novels are spicy contemporary romcoms built on the two things she refuses to compromise on: banter and heat, in equal measure. She writes grumpy chefs and chaotic sunshine, roommates who hate each other until they very much don’t, nemeses forced to fake-date, and a friend group all secretly terrified of the same thing, that they’re too much, or not enough, to be truly chosen. Her heroines have real careers and real spines; her heroes are the kind you’d actually want to date; and nobody is a billionaire, because she finds them tiresome.

Her books are for readers who want to laugh and swoon and fan themselves in roughly equal measure, full-commitment tropes, scorching heat, a heroine you’d want as a friend, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after with a grand gesture at the end. You will finish one and immediately need the next.

Margot lives in a city apartment that is too small in exactly the way her characters’ are, with her partner, a dramatic cat named Pesto, and a to-be-read pile that qualifies as a structural hazard. She takes her wine red and her tropes shameless.
