Lynne Harper The Heart of Sandpiper Bay

Lynne Harper was a florist for thirty years in Camden, Maine, which means she has personally supervised more proposals, weddings, anniversaries, apologies, and gray-area ‘just because’ bouquets than any therapist in the state. The shop taught her the thing her books are built on: the most interesting love stories walk in after fifty, and they never buy the roses — they buy the good peonies, because they know exactly what they want.

She started writing her own second-act romance after living one. Divorced at fifty-one after a long marriage that ended the ordinary, devastating way, Lynne swore off the whole business — and then remarried at fifty-four, to the marine mechanic who kept finding reasons to walk past the shop. (His name is Walt. He proposed with a boat horn. She said yes anyway.) The experience left her with a conviction she has been writing down ever since: love after fifty isn’t a miracle or a punchline. It’s a decision, made by people who finally know themselves.

Her Second Acts of Sandpiper Bay series gives that decision to a different couple in every book — gardeners, ferry captains, diner owners, realtors — in a working harbor town where the gossip is aggressive but the casseroles are sincere. Readers can expect humor, real grief handled gently, adult children with opinions, and happily-ever-afters that don’t require anyone to pretend to be thirty.

Lynne still lives in Camden with Walt, an unheated greenhouse she calls the annex, and a one-eyed cat named Admiral who came with the dock and stayed for the fish. She believes every garden and every person gets a second bloom, and that both usually need pruning first.
