Karl Voss was born in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, in 1979, in a house where his father’s psychiatric practice occupied the ground floor and the family lived above it.
He studied clinical psychology at Heidelberg before leaving his doctorate to write fiction, finding it a more honest way to examine the human mind.
He now lives in a converted mill house at the edge of the Black Forest with two cats named after Rorschach inkblots.
His novels are known for unreliable narrators, forensic precision, and endings that force the reader to reconsider every page that came before.
He does not appear publicly.
His author photo is always the same silhouette.
Some readers believe he does not exist.
He finds this amusing.
